Meet The Mancini’s!

There is something about photographing a family in their home that just excited me. The vibe is COMPLETELY different than if we were to meet at a park! When you walk into someones home, your senses start to explore the environment; the colours and photos on the walls you see, the smell of fresh baked cookies or a burning candle, the sound of giggles coming from the living room.

When I arrived at The Mancini’s, Crystal welcomed me and gave me a warning that this session might just be the girls playing on their phones as she wasn’t sure how it was going to go. I had some tricks up my sleeve that I knew the girls were going to love!! We continued into the living room where the girls and Paul were playing video games together. I could hear the competitiveness all the way from the front door and just couldn’t wait to see what they were up to.

Once the game was over, the girls showed me their bedrooms. Their rooms were so cool, designed to represent each girly differently! I spent some time with each of them and getting to know them better. After they showed me their bedrooms, and favourite stuffed animals, we headed to the play room to relax for a bit. We all enjoyed some laughs, played some games on their cell phones then they had some cuddles with mom and dad, and maybe even some tickles! We finished the day with a good old jam session! I love when I meet families and get to learn things about them. In this case, that Paul is teaching their youngest daughter how to play the guitar just like him!! They showed me some of their songs they were learning together and it was awesome!!

Sessions like this one are some of my favourite! The family gets to be their true goof selves and are comfortable because they are in their own home! Cool right!! I also love them because I get to capture some things that they do as a family, like cuddling on the couch or in the playroom drawing pictures. All things that you will one day want to remember and show future generations.

Getting older kids to do anything is hard- which is part of the reason why family pictures were becoming less frequent. Dragging sulking pre-tweens in matching outfits out into nature wasn’t going to happen. When I booked Brea I warned her- my kids were not going to make her job easy. But she assured me, I would get great pictures. She came to us. My kids wore what made them comfy and got to relax in their environment. They chatted, showed off the things that were important to them, laughed, giggled, and generally made me look like a liar. Our photos are gorgeous. They capture our family as it is- jeans and big laughs. Brea made as all forget that we don’t like having our pictures taken and the results are memories we cherish! Thanks Brea!
