My personal experience in front of the camera! | Windsor Family Photographer
WELL, I totally understand how my clients feel now!
In the summer of 2019, I decided it was time to step in front of the camera (the first time in I don’t know how long) and get some photos done! In February of 2019, I was trying to find photos to print and frame but could literally only find 8 photos of Brody and I that were either from my phone or snapchat. Brody and I have been together for 4 years at this point and all I had was EIGHT photos of us… face palm to the face. Being a photographer, you work so hard to make sure everyone has amazing photos of their families and with their significant other that you often times forget about your own! My beautiful friend Steph, of Stesha Bella Photography, captured the most amazing photos of Brody and I!
The process we went through in the upcoming weeks of the session were… crazy to say the least! Trying to find outfits that we liked, finding clothing that matched and didn’t clash, made sure we booked the time off from work for the session, booked hair and makeup appointments and well, just get mentally prepared. I remember thinking to myself through to planning process “HOLY CRAP, I get it now why moms come to their sessions so stressed out! They just want it all to be so perfect”. All I wanted was for us to look good and excited about the session but if I’m being honest, we were stressed and nervous! When the day came, I started the day with my hair and makeup appointment, got dressed and then we were off!! When we arrived at the park (Two Creeks Conservation Area), the butterflies started in my belly. Thoughts like “Will we look nervous and stiff”, “Will my face look dumb in photos”, and the most famous one I get ALL THE TIME , “I hope I don’t have a double chin!” started filling my head! THANK GOD Steph is so much fun to shoot with because once we started, it was so easy and felt so natural. She captured the TRUE us; the easy going, goofy, and loving US!
I am so so happy we did this session. A photograph has so much value and meaning behind it that I think people sometimes forget about and forget to capture moments in their life that one day they wish they had. These photos will always be something I look at now and in the future and remember how we were in this moment of our life; newly engaged and really enjoying this stage of our relationship.
Fast forward to October of this year (2020), Brody and I booked our engagement photos with Emma Davidson Photography, and we were so ready!! We didn’t have the same feelings like we did when we did photos in 2019 and I think it made the world of a difference! Yes, the pre planning with outfits and the hair and makeup appointments was still a process but we were so excited to step in front of the camera! When we scheduled our session, I described our relationship as a “Bro” relationship so Emma would have an idea at how the session might turn out. Emma was truly amazing!! She made us feel so at home and like we could be ourselves! She captured us as who we are; cheesy, goofy and even the smidgen of the romance no one ever sees.
I am so so glad that I had these experiences because it made me really realize how my clients feel when they book their session with me! I am always here to help with preplanning in any way I can! If you need help with suggestions for outfits, hair and makeup artists and even locations for sessions, ask me!! I can help in any way you need!!
